Adon is a man of few words. His past is known to only the very handful that he trusts, but not even he knows everything. Borne of a Raen and Xaela, his scales are predominantly onyx in nature, but his other half shines through - creating golden edges that once caused a rift between his family and their tribes. Presiding in the Far East, the man is familiar with the various dialects and goings-on both above and in the dark -- with many aware of the ferocious half-Raen's deeds within the city. 'the croc of kugane', they crowned him.Ruling the dark, quiet alleys of Kugane, behind the mechanical cogs of The Scarlet Syndicate as a leader, Adon will do anything to keep the peace in his city, his way.At first glance, Adon appears intimidating to most. He tries to buffer this by offering an exceedingly courteous disposition.

The acrid stench of choking smoke and ash.Drawing of a slivered tongue across fangs.Crimson hues, a drooling maw, and long, wretched claws that could easily exsanguinate any battle-hardened warrior, aeshma shows no mercy, and lays claim to everything he desires. The dark, billowing tendrils from the metamorphosis will be the last thing most people gaze upon before facing the terrifying entity.Hailing from the thirteenth, the voidsent within Adon is a difficult, cruel and narcissistic entity. He feeds off aether by absorbing the essence from the corpses he leaves behind into empty husks. They both experience each other's feelings, and Aeshma relishes in Adon's hot temper, taking advantage of a moment's fury to secure a kill.However, despite having lending Adon strength in battle and, in turn, gaining those riches, the voidsent's ultimate goal was mostly unclear to the latter until meeting Lianthe. Upon sensing the Keeper's aether, Aeshma decided to claim Lia for his own; desiring their abundant and far more delectable aether.Aeshma's form shifts Adon's body, growing as an attempt to accommodate the voidsent's immense powers. Keratin growth during the metamorphosis grows extra horns to a total of six. It turns his nails and hair slightly longer, and warps his scales to become more durable. It is jet black with iridescent red hues that seem to resemble tectonic plates with magma brimming under it.Aeshma's voice is deeper, and generally insouciant.
Adon has learned that Aeshma possesses the potential to evolve. does he intend to bring an end to the star, or is he helping to salvage it?

steppe child in deep water
Adon does not remember most of his childhood. His father was of Xaela origin, but his mother was a Raen. It was assumed that their tribes did not approve of them being together, so they turned to appeal to the Steppe. However, meeting with the Khagan did not prove to be fruitful, as Adon was harangued by guards.They ridiculed the child, dangling Adon by the leg off the holy monument before dropping him into the waters below. His frantic mother, hearing her child's screams, dived down after him. Drenched, embarrassed, and with only each other left, they fled to the depths of the Ruby Sea to spend their days. He knows not of what happened to his father within the Dawn Throne that day, but he deeply resents The Steppe and refuses to acknowledge being called a Xaela.Unfortunately, his darker scales were far more distinct, since scale colour was derived from the more dominant gene present - though mutations were known to occur. In his case, the light scales from his Raen nature came out only slightly, causing certain scales to elicit a warm tint of gold. As he grew up, Adon was ostracised in Sui-no-Sato still. However, living there had its perks - the only way to get around The Ruby Sea, after all, was by swimming - attributing to him having a stronger tail, similar to that of a crocodile's.Years later, though still at a young age, Adon's mother passed peacefully in her sleep. She wasn't terribly old, but he figured she was tired and grief-stricken all these years. He had enough of pity, and he definitely had more than his fill of being treated as an outsider. Starting anew, he went to Kugane, working at the docks and as a mercenary for hire.

A few years passed, and an enchanting passenger from the merchant town of Radz-at-Han caught his eye. She was travelling with her father who had business in Kugane.He offered to work for them as a deckhand and personal guard. Thus, their relationship blossomed - with him taking every moment to know her as they travelled by sea. Two years later, they eventually wed, and Adon was the happiest he had ever been. Alas, it was not to be; two months into their marriage, he woke up to her screams, and could only watch as she bled out in his arms. Her death, to this day, still remains a mystery to him.
syndicate life
Grief-stricken, Adon had no goal in life and was driven to crime. Loss, after all, made for an excellent jaded soul, and that was all his superiors needed - a cold-blooded assassin to do their bidding. Guaranteeing their current monopoly in the depths of Kugane's secrets, he was rewarded with ranks, riches, women, and wine, but none of those appealed to him. He was eventually given the title of the leader when the previous one passed on in a mysterious assassination attempt. Having being deemed worthy by securing the mafia's position in stone, Kugane belonged to him.Although Adon's current position grants him plenty of freedom, he has to set examples when necessary. He isn't prone to violence, but he still honours and takes care of the ones who pledge fealty towards the syndicate. His loyalty is unwavering, and fierce enough to shake any of his subordinates to their core.

Adon will never reveal to strangers that he is part of the yakuza, but if your character hails from Kugane, you may have heard of a certain "Croc" with his features. Your information about him may vary, but his temper and deeds are renowned. He aims to control all of Kugane and to stop other yakuza from growing. He may grant you a favour in return if you provide him with good information.

His cover for his section of the syndicate is that it's a mercenary organisation, thus the ability to take on tasks that others may not wish to. If your character has aethersense, you will see that Adon's is filled with bright sunlight, with flecks of lavender swirling into a black whirlpool in varying levels.If he is low on aether, he will appear weary and look longingly at aether if it is being offered around, but not partake from others. When critically low on it, he will choose to leave the premises to find Lianthe.

Previous loss has made Adon extremely possessive over what he has now, but he is also fully aware the chosen Keeper of Omphalos is capable of handling themselves --most of the time. Ask him to start talking about Lianthe and he may not stop.However, make no mistake; one wrong move and he will be quick to react - as a trained assassin and aether-crazed voidsent is wont to do. Adon is learning to be kind thanks to Lianthe, but this morally-grey croc harbouring a tempestuous voidsent gives zero fucks about collateral damage when it involves their safety.

with mhira desperate for a solution to his fluctuating aether, the freyjas sought a solution similar to lianthe -- a homunculus. this led adon to greatly sympathise mhira's plight and usually siding the smaller cabbit no matter their mistakes. he's taken on the role of 'godhusband', which was initially a threat to kuroji for not holding up his end of the bargain of being married to this man. adon now cares for mhira dearly, but is willing to put him in his place when needed.

adon treats this silent raen the closest to a brother - finally finding someone close enough to share in plenty of similarities. he confides in him for the more monstrous traits they both share, and that he makes for a great sparring partner. he thinks yul may be the one saving grace about the steppe, and may eventually return because of this man.
